The estate attorney was a man who had clearly seen this scene play out many times before.
Gray hair, composed posture, voice measured and precise. He carried himself with the kind of neutrality that suggested he had learned long ago never to get emotionally involved in family affairs. He wasn’t here to comfort us. He was here to execute instructions.
